6. Threads Supervision
Threads Supervision is a set of tools and insights for parents and guardians to support their teenagers (ages 13-17) on Threads. The availability of Threads and its features might vary based on region and account status.
- Setting Up Supervision If you have supervision set up in Family Center for Instagram, it will automatically apply to Threads and your Instagram supervision settings will also apply to Threads. If you haven’t set up supervision, you’ll need to establish it on Instagram.
- Supervision for Teens With supervision enabled, your parent or guardian will have visibility into the following aspects of your Threads activity:
- Time on Threads
- Daily time limit
- Scheduled breaks
- Followers and following
- Profile privacy
- Sensitive content control
- Blocked accounts
3. Supervision for Parents To see information about your teenager’s activity, tap their Instagram
profile in the Family Center. Here’s what you can monitor:
- Time on Threads: A chart will display the time your teenager spent on both Threads and Instagram.
- Daily time limit: The time on both Threads and Instagram will count towards the limit.
- Scheduled breaks: You can designate specific days and times for scheduled breaks. During these breaks, your teen won’t be able to use Threads on any device.

- Profile privacy: Note that your teen’s profile privacy setting for Threads may differ from their account setting on Instagram.
- Sensitive content control: This setting is shared across Instagram and Threads. If your teen updates this setting on Instagram, it’ll also be updated for Threads.
- Blocked accounts: You’ll see the accounts blocked on both Threads and Instagram.
Remember that changing some of these settings will apply to both Threads and Instagram. Some settings, like who can message your teen and who can add your teen to a messaging group, do not apply to Threads.
